Bungie Nerfs Stasis For Warlocks In Destiny 2: Beyond Light

The Stasis ability is a new class of characters that Destiny 2: Beyond Light offers guardians and it is an animal. The way it works in PvE and PvP has been a major topic of discussion since the new expansion launched, with some feeling like it shakes things in the best way and others feel like the pace of changing the experience in the worst and overall direction is imbalanced. Bungie listened to all of that feedback and so Warlock Stasis’s abilities are being reduced in strength.

“We saw a lot of feedback on Stasissince Beyond Light which was launched last week,” reads the latest Bungie blog about the new class. “We’ve heard that it’s fun to use, but certain aspects of this new child class can make you uncomfortable (look at you, Shadebinder Warlocks). We have a few minor edits scheduled to launch in Hotfix 3.0. 0.3 this week. Our goal here is to make some early adjustments to tear down Shadebindersback while maintaining their overall efficiency and strength. “

The first change to Stasis was that breakout damage dropped from 110hp to 90hp. Warlock’s melee damage was also reduced by 20% in speed and range of 16m (from 28m).

Recent changes to Stasis’s PvP features also affect crucibles, reduced freezing times, and basically, all Warlock attacks are reduced. For a full list of changes:

Stalled state changes:

Reduce Stasis Breakout damage (110-> 90hp).
Adjusted curves to reduce damage caused by faults by resilience.
Increasing the resilience of the damage reduction effect, the higher the resilience levels, the more valuable it is.
Caps out at 90 Resilience.
The Penumbral Blast (Stasis Warlock Melee) rounds reduce speed by 20%.
The range of the Penumbral Blast (Stasis Warlock Melee) is reduced (to 28mnow16m).
Reduce the time of Winter Wrath (Stasis Warlock Super) (30 seconds -> 24 seconds).
A discount of Winters Wrath Light Attack (Stasis Warlock Super) (5% per -> 4.5% per shot).
Snapseekerspeed cold fell 23%.
Against the Guardians:

Cold Snap freezing time decreased (4.75 seconds -> 1.35 seconds).
Ice Flare Bolts freezing time decreased (4.75 seconds -> 1.35 seconds).
The freezing time of the penumbral blast (Stasis Warlock Melee) is reduced (4.75 seconds -> 1.35 seconds).
The Winters Wrath Heavy (Stasis Warlock Super) attack no longer affects players who are not surrounded.
Bungie also noted that Stasis, especially for Warlocks, operates in PVP other than PvE, so they are trying to find the perfect balance for the “cosmic ice witch” to shine. The team also teased something “spicier” along the way, though gave no clues as to what that meant for the sandbox.

The latest season came just this week, a week after the expansion launch and the new raid finally arrived. It will be interesting to see how this new class continues to evolve and where Bungie plans to make the next story.
